The results of Epson Foto Flock World Cup Clickit contest just came out & I’m pleased to tell you’ll that I won a runner-up award in photo competition. Offcourse, I’m happy but not on the moon as I feel its time I squeeze out every bit of myself & aim to get into top tier if not at the apex position of any photo contest.
I won the award for the above photograph which I shot at Shivaji Park, Dadar once I was on my way to a badminton session with my friend. This small victory is another reason why I always carry my camera along no matter where I go. Some people(including my mom) have always felt carrying the camera everywhere is a crazy thing to do but I hope all of them understand now why I do so. For the photo-buffs who are asking for the EXIF & other details of the photograph here they are;
Camera : Canon SX100 IS (Point & shoot camera)
ISO : 80
Shutter Speed : 1/100
Aperture : f/5.6
Metering : Centre-Weighted Average
White Balance : Daylight
My Colours : Vivid
Image Quality : JPEG Superfine
The photograph was shot in JPEG superfine quality in camera with the above settings. On computer, I increased the exposure a touch & cropped some portion of the ground from the bottom of the image. Last but not least a big thanks goes to my friend, Vimal Joshi who pointed out the Epson Photo Contest & suggested me to submit the image. Without him, I would never have been aware of this photo competition. I’m also thankful to all others who like my photography & have at times criticised, appreciated & encouraged me to do well. 🙂
Congrats Gaurav.

Seeing the winner and other runner ups at their website, I’ve got my little dump of skepticism to share. The judge is a Bengali while the other winning entries are also Bengali, save for Gaurav. Is something else at work here? Even though I’m a Bengali myself, couldn’t help questioning it.

I too spotted that but then again what can I do? Actually the results have motivated me to get on top the next time albeit in a bit bad way.

If it is true that partiality has been done on basis on regional preference then its sad.But u really deserved to b winner.Hope next time there is Maharastrian judge. :).

Next time, I’ll come on top even without any help from the judges. In fair sense by shooting a good photograph which any judge would not hesitate in awarding the first price.
